Flowers for Jafa from Chicago

Today, I have named the painting I have been working on for the past 6 months.

I don't think I will ever be satisfied with it. But name it I have and post it for sale I have.

After visiting the MCA in Chicago, September 2024, I was dran into the Nicole Eisenman exhibit. Loving the size and color of some of her works: the Econ Prof, 2019, Long Distance, 2015, Heading Down the River on the USS J-Bone of and Ass, 2017. The came the Arthur Jafa exhibit on the 2nd floor. I entered through the exit and several of the security team were standing watching the video exhibit. I strolled in and stood alone. Kanye West's, version of Ultra Light Beam blared from the speakers. I was not familiar with the tune at that moment, but it captured my humanity. I have listened to it `100 times since. Stan Walker's version now as well. The images caught be off guard. not ready to succumb to their challenges and fight. but they did. All 7 plus minutes of the exhibit. The clips were mostly well known. MLK, MJ. James Brown, Barack, etc. Many were deeper black history. Malcomb, Notorious BIG, Rosa, Pippen, Miles, and I am sorry I don't recognize by name some of the most potent black messengers for freedom. But this piece moved this Irish catholic American and the struggles black Americans have faced and hence why i have named my latest painting; Flowers for Jafa from Chicago to connect a thread to the fight and struggle and to keep it moving forward together, with love, compassion and understanding.https://www.theartfare.com/product-page/flowers-for-jafa-from-chicago
